Product Description
This image is from the Civita portfolio and was made with my 4 x 5 inch (leonardo) pinhole camera on color negative film. It is a total fiction because I took the first photograph of the moon in a nighttime photograph from my kitchen door. When I got up before dawn to close the shutter I discovered how dark it was out and also very foggy. I thought it would be perfect for making a double exposure of the moonrise and the front gate of the town. I thought, rightly so, that the only thing to show up on the first exposure was the moonrise. As the day lighten, I took the camera down to St Mary’s gate and exposed the front of the gate for about 30 minutes. I was very excited to see the film and that it had worked. This print is a pinhole image, from one negative that has been double exposed. The artist proof print is still available at $100.00. I think it is a bit dark but this image is the first in the edition of 10 and I offer on sale for $300.00. Like all the other sale prints the image has been printed in an edition of 10 and after three prints are sold at the sale price, the next two (numbers 4 and 5) will be sold for $400.00 and then 6-10 will be sold for $500.00 each. The image is printed on Canson Photographic 310 paper 17 x 22 inches with archival inks. Print size is approximately 18 x 13 inches. Only the residents of Civita would recognize that this is not where the moon actually rises!
